“A clean heart create for me, God;

renew within me a steadfast spirit.” (Psalm 51:12)

Before entering the desert, the Holy Spirit descended upon Jesus. Therefore, during his Lent, Jesus was not alone; the love of God was in his heart, which Jesus kept cleaned and willing through humility, prayer, and fasting.

The good news for us is that during our baptism, the Holy Spirit descended upon us too. We are not alone during our Lenten journey. Let us seek to be humble, prayerful, and abstinent as well.

Today’s Intention:

O God, I desire a clean and willing heart today and always. May the Holy Spirit sustain me.

“You have been told, O mortal, what is good,

and what the LORD requires of you:

Only to do justice and to love goodness,

and to walk humbly with your God.” (Micah 6:8)

At times we try so hard to achieve unity. In the process, we promote division.

God wants us to take action toward unity. However, He requires that our deeds be fair and kind that we humbly walk with Him trusting that He will have the last word.

Today’s Intention: O Lord, help us to bring about unity build on fairness, kindness, and humility.

One-Minute Reflection: Ephesians 4:2 (30 Days of prayer for unity #9)

“With all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another through love (Ephesians 4:2)

Humility is an essential muscle of unity. Like any muscle, it takes proper nutrition to keep it healthy and strong. A way to feed unity is by consuming three of the fruits of the Holy Spirit: love, patience, and gentleness.

Nourished by the fruits of the Holy Spirit, we humbly recognize that together we can accomplish more than apart.

Today’s Intention: O Lord, we humbly pray to send the Holy Spirit upon us. That we may receive the love, patience, and gentleness to sustain our nation in unity.
