Our Worldly Frailties

“So the chief priests and the Pharisees convened the Sanhedrin and said, “What are we going to do? This man is performing many signs. If we leave him alone, all will believe in him…” ~ John 37:47

What would we do if our respect, power, and pride were threaten by one person’s honorable actions? Would we welcome that person into our life or would we plan how to get rid of her or destroy his reputation or avoid them? We human beings are very vulnerable to our worldly frailties, especially, pride, greed, anger, and envy.

Tomorrow is Palm Sunday; the preamble to the Holy Week. Let’s reflect this week on how we treat people whose honorable actions threaten our accomplishments, our authority or pride. Let’s pray that the Holy Spirit give us the grace of awareness, strength, and humility to master our desires instead of being mastered by them.
