How are we doing this Lent Season?

“Is he not the one they are trying to kill?” This is the question some of
the inhabitants of Jerusalem asked in today’s gospel when they saw
Jesus walking about in Galilee. Imagine how you would feel if you knew
people were trying to kill you because of what you represent. What
would you do? Do you run away? Do you hide? Do you deny who you
are? Christ did none of that. He knew that in order for us to be freed
from sin and death He needed to die for us; that’s love.

Christ’s selfless compassion for us as served as strength to countless
people who have been persecuted, abused, and killed because of their
faith. Like Christ, they were unafraid to stand up for what they believe.

As we go about this Lent Season, let’s reflect on how our thoughts and
actions honor Christ’s sacrifice and the lives of many martyrs who
suffered so we did not have to. Are we praying, fasting, and almsgiving?
That’s a good place to start; may the Holy Spirit help us.
